Programmatic pillar Creation – Imagined Territories
Curated by Ana Rocha
Walk oriented by Sara Anjo
This walk is an exploration of what resides within us, resists us and invades us; a question in motion about what matters to inhabit, preserve and transform. On a route that crosses the river, woods, forests, neighbourhoods and farms of Campanhã, we will put our thoughts into perspective, activate different points of view and forge connections between body and territory. Observing the ornamentation of this landscape, marked by rapid and contrasting variations, we will experiment with forms of presence capable of altering our footprint and suspending the gravity of habit. Along the way, we will observe what is resistant and resilient, wild and spontaneous, invasive or harmful, both in the landscape and in the body. We will question where the centre and periphery of territories begin, and thus the centre and periphery of perception. We will experiment with walking without leaving a footprint, if possible. Or walking backwards, moving towards the future whilst looking back at the past. The walk also includes a visit to a café run by a local association and a private estate with a vast collection of camellias and exotic flora.
